New Messaging System SNEAK PREVIEW

Hey guys, we are just about ready to launch the new messaging system and we’d like to give our loyal Members and Supporters a special SNEAK preview!

Before you check it out, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. This is a TESTING server so any content you create (messages, unlocks etc.) will be temporary. Your old messages will also be outdated. Any actions you take will not affect your “real” Daddyhunt profile.
  2. Set your ONLINE NOW settings to WORLDWIDE. Otherwise, you may not see all the other members online.
  3. Photos will not appear anywhere on the TESTING site so please don’t be surprised that photos are not showing up. Don’t worry, they will work fine when we finally do launch.
  4. To activate the Sound Alert for new messages, go to your Account/Preferences page and look for the option to activate this feature. Try it out!
  5. Please send lots of emails to people you see on the testing server and ask them to respond back. We need your help to test the system and make sure it works properly. Try moving messages around. In other words, make sure to “bang on the tires” as much as you want.
  6. Let us know if you find any bugs or have any feedback for us. We really want to know what you think and we’re relying on your help to identify any hidden problems before launch. Email beta@daddyhunt.com with any comments.

New Mailbox Coming Soon!

Hey guys, thanks for all the great feedback and suggestions on the new site. I'm happy to announce that we are almost ready to launch a number of significant improvements to the Mailbox and messaging system. In addition to a more intuitive interface and navigation, we have resurrected features from the old Daddyhunt. Our Beta users are currently testing the system. We hope to be in a position to launch very soon.

Here are some of the features you will see in the new Mailbox:

  1. A fresh new look and feel
  2. A SOUND alert for new messages
  3. A VISUAL (blinking) alert for new messages
  4. A VIEW HISTORY button to see all prior conversations with members
  5. A checkbox to UNLOCK your photos while sending a message
  6. The ability to permanently save messages (SUPPORTERS 0NLY)
  7. The ability to see who read your messages (SUPPORTERS ONLY)
  8. A "bigger" inbox that stores messages for 90 days instead of 30
    days

This month, our very own Big Daddy and DH Founder was selected for the Advocate's prestigious "Forty Under 40" issue, an annual list of gay activists, artists and leaders making a difference. Its name may seem salacious, but Carl Sandler says his five-year-old dating website, DaddyHunt.com, is tamer than one might expect. “The whole idea of being a ‘daddy’ is owning your age. It’s a playful use of the word rather than some old-school concept,” he says, alluding to a connotation that means something akin to silver fox. Averaging a quarter million unique visitors a month, DaddyHunt is not for the money-hungry and their older admirers, Sandler says, but rather anyone who values maturity over abdominals. That definition includes younger guys seeking older men, older men seeking younger men, and the over-40 set looking for partners their own age. “My generation needs a place online that isn’t just about hooking up,” he says. So, is there a definitive age when a man crosses over from “hunter” to “daddy”? “I’m not a person fixated on a certain role,” Sandler says. He’s looking for a boyfriend too, and all ages are welcome.

Bo Dixon fans got a rare treat in El Paso! They enjoyed a Sky Vodka Tasting, a meet + greet and a sit down dinner with Bo himself at the renowned Ardovinos. There was also plenty of Daddyhunt t-shirts and other goodies on hand. Great food, eye candy, drinks and giveaways... Sounds like a recipe for an awesome night and all for a good cause no less!

Hey guys, we recently made a couple of changes to the logged in home page. We made these changes as a direct response to members who asked us for a LARGER thumbnail option for browsing profiles. We couldn't fit larger thumbnails into the who's online frame so we decided to make better use of the logged-in home page. We also wanted to give members a local view of members online in their area to help increase opportunities to connect to other local men. You can still filter the results in the upper right hand corner, but the default is always local. Since these changes, members are reporting getting more messages and views so we're very happy with the results. If you still want to use the other Who's Online view, just navigate off the logged-in home page and you will be set.

We also added a new section called Events on the logged-in home page to keep you all up-to-date with local events that may be going on in your area. We are in NYC and our events module shows the Black Party this weekend. We are all going and hope to see a lot of Daddyhunt members there!

Beneath events is a section for updates from us and new additions to the blog. On the blog we are going to start posting more updates and do a better job of keeping all our members and supporters up-to-date on the things we are working on so there will be fewer "surprises" in the future. We promise to stop changing things without explaining why we are changing them.

The new format for "Who Viewed Me" and "Take Action" allows you to hover over the image with your mouse or trackpad and see that user's details before clicking on the image. Try it out for yourself.

Thanks for sticking with us through all these changes. It may take some time, but we promise to give you a better platform to connect with other hot men.

Improved Email Notifications & Condensed Home Page Sidebar

Hi guys! Starting today, we'd like to keep you in the loop about feature additions and changes to the site. We are constantly working on refining existing functionality and adding new features. Here is what we added today:

  • Improved Email Notifications: Per popular requests, we added external email notifications for internal messages. Meaning: When a user sends you a message on Daddyhunt, you will be notified according to your email notification settings. In addition, email digests include direct links to the members that sent you the message.
  • Home Page Sidebar: We want to make sure you know what's happening on Daddyhunt, so we tried to condense the sidebar on your personal (logged-in) home page. As a special extra, you can now roll-over the profile photo icons and event names to get more information.

New Site Launches This Sunday!

We are thrilled to announce that the new Daddyhunt is coming this Sunday, Jan 31!

In order to migrate all the millions of hot photos, emails and profiles on the site, we will be OFF-LINE for most of the day on Sunday, starting at 8 am EST.

Once the migration is complete, you can login using your existing login and password. Please review and update your Profile and Preferences so you can get the most out of the new site.

Daddyhunt 2.0 is almost here!

Almost 5 years have passed since we started Daddyhunt.com and it has been an amazing ride. Thank you to all of our wonderful members and supporters who have helped make this the largest and fastest growing site for real men of ALL ages. I’m very proud of the attitude-free and healthy community we have created together.

Over the years we’ve heard lots of suggestions from our members on how to improve the site. Well, I’m proud to say that we have been working hard to build a brand-new version of Daddyhunt that incorporates many of the great suggestions members have made.

Our new platform will feature a host of new and improved features for members and special functionality just for our Supporters. There will be new tools to stay connected to your friends and new features that will make it easier than ever to meet other hot men. There will also be a brand-new design and more hot cover models. All in all, we are very excited about the new site and hope you will be too.

The first phase of re-launch will involve the unveiling of the new platform. Slowly over the course of 2010 we will be rolling out new features like an instant messenger, profile notes and advanced search.

In order to launch in January, however, we need your help to test the site and identify any bugs. We are looking for a few dedicated Daddyhunt members to test out the Beta site and give us their feedback.
