And that's ok. It's estimated that upwards of 50-80% of the population in North America has either Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) 1 or 2. There's such a stigma surrounding herpes, and most STDs really, that the subject matter is rarely discussed openly and honestly. Because of this, many of us have become grossly misinformed when it comes to best practices regarding our sexual health. In college I was part of an HIV and STD peer to peer prevention program, and up until a few weeks ago, thought I was well versed on the subject matter. As it turns out, I came across a pretty startling fact about HSV 1 and 2: transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he is infected. This was news to me, which made me wonder why more people don't know this crucial piece of information about the virus. "Both viral types [genital and oral] are easily transmitted to their site of preference, and can also be spread to other sites. Both are mostly contagious during active outbreaks, but are often spread through viral shedding when there are no recognizable symptoms." Shedding. I didn't even know what that was. But basically it's the thing trying to scare me back into being a big old prude, because there's no way to know when shedding occurs. So where does this leave us?

I started dating a very sexy someone recently and he revealed to me that he had genital herpes, most commonly cause by HSV2. Having just gotten a clean bill of health from my doctor on the STD front, I had a lot of questions to ask. Mainly, how can we...

Southern Decadence

The infamy of Mardi Gras put New Orleans on the map for one of America's wildest party towns. But there's another party straight out of the Big Easy that's been said to give the debauchery of Mardi Gras a run for it's money. Southern Decadence, what many refer to as Gay Mardi Gras, is a week long party of bead throwing, penis showing goodness!

Here at Daddyhunt we as well as our friends at BigOlBoy are happy to sponsor the Bear Breakfast and Contest hosted by Phoenix Bar on Sunday, September 4th and we need all our Daddies and Hunters who are going to Southern Decadence to represent and win one for the home team. The New Orleans Bears are holding a contest from 10 AM to 2 PM to find the best of the Bears, and that includes beards, butts, and bellies. Go on and make your Daddyhunt brethren proud!

Daddies & Black Sheep

On Tuesday, our CEO and Co-Founder Carl Sandler was interviewed by Black Sheep, a weekly radio program on Global Voice Broadcasting.

Black Sheep is hosted by Andrew and Chad who describe themselves as "two quirky, overly analytical (and overly anal) Virgos that pride themselves on always having something to say about anything and everything." The show covers a broad spectrum of topics ranging from politics to man-scaping to dating to "life, lube, and Liza."

During the interview, Carl, Andrew, and Chad discuss our site, defining what a daddy is, the Daddyhunt Code, Androsexuals (yup - the term was new to us too), daddy culture, and how to make the most of your Daddyhunt experience.

To listen to the program and to subscribe to Black Sheep for free, visit the iTunes page for Black Sheep.

During the show, we mentioned wanting to hear our member's success stories. Have you met your boyfriend, life-long partner, good friend, business partner or comrade on the site? In our new social media saturated world, the self portrait has become king. To paraphrase a quote from He's Just Not That Into You, when trying to make ourselves more appealing these days, we don't get a new haircut, we update our profile picture. And if you think about how much we're trying to get across in just a few photos, it's a lot of pressure. Take this guy for example. It's most likely a candid, but you can really get a feel for the type of guy he is. An utterly sexy stud, who with the combination of the bike, the tats, and the cargo pants is giving off the rough and wild vibe. It's also safe to say he's not terribly shy given that's he dropping trou in public. Now the origin of this shot is unknown, so it may very well be a professional shoot, but my point is this: the more complete a picture you can't paint in your profile shots, the better. Aside from wanting to look your best, it's always a safe bet to infuse your pics with as much personality, interests, or details as you can.

What do you think makes a great profile shot?

Daddyhunt DILF

While we've covered a good number of well known DILFs this summer, we are saving the best for last! There are plenty of Daddies I'd like to fuck right on this very site, and by golly, I think most of you will agree that they should be honored as such. Our Daddies deserve just as much praise, so we've added a bonus entry to the Summer of DILF! Here's how it works:

Just click on the link below and you'll be taken to our secret ballot location. Enter your Daddyhunt member name, and the name of your nominee, and let us know why you think this person should be nominated as one of the 5 Daddyhunt DILFs of Summer. Whether you've got a friend, a lover, or just a hella hot guy you admire, give them a little ego boost and put their name on the ballot. All nominations will remain confidential, and the top 5 members with the most votes will be featured in an upcoming post and honored as one of the DILFs of Summer. Voting will be open now through August 31st and we'll reveal the winners right after Labor Day.

Click this link to CAST YOUR VOTE! Only vote via the link guys. Any nominees in the comments below will be disregarded.

Best of luck to everyone and keep those votes coming in!

The Daddyhunt team has been hard at work trying to make it easier for you to find and connect with other men. We listened to your suggestions and enhanced some of the features on Daddyhunt:

Men Online Page
We created a dedicated "Men Online" page, which now displays twice as many profiles online and comes with a new "thumbnail" view. You can toggle between the standard view and this compact, easy-to-browse view by using the icon in the upper right corner. In addition, you can Mail, Grope and Unlock your private photos directly from this list. This new page replaces the "Who's Online" page on the homepage and the "Who's Online" list in the sidebar.

The new sidebar displays everything you need to know at a glance. Your newest messages, buddy requests, profile visitors and saved searches are now accessible no matter where you are on Daddyhunt.

Some menu items have been moved to make way for our new interface. You'll now find "Profile" and "Photos" to the right, and your Buddies and Favorites are under one menu item, called "Connections."

Check out the presentation above to learn more about the (slightly) new and much-improved design!

There I was standing out on the balcony of the Belvedere hotel looking out onto a gorgeous Fire Island morning on the bay. Freshly showered and with my towel wrapped around my waist, I surveyed the scene around me, dropped my towel to my ankles and raised my hands to the sky. I was having my very own naked Evita moment and it was magical.

Fire Island has always had a very special place in my heart, but it's only been recently and with much reflection that I've realized how much I truly love the freedom that the island brings. In years past I've always stayed in the Pines, but through my roommates suggestion I decided to give Cherry Grove a try, specifically a lovely hotel called the Belvedere. I had heard stories through my roommate about the Belv and seen pictures of it's Venetian interiors in books, but the clothing optional hotel was even more exciting to see in person. It's been around for over 50 years, though recently renovated, and it's unlike any other structure on the island with plenty of charm to spare. The real excitement, though, lies in the simple fact that at any point in the day or night, you can roam around in all your naked glory. And while that may not be for everybody, there's a thrill that comes with being uninhibited in the presence of other men and allowing some of your voyeuristic/exhibitionist fantasies come to life.

I was doubly impressed with how friendly everyone at the hotel was - staff and guests alike. Even in Cherry Grove, which, for visual reference, is like a...

I must have been no more than six years old when I tried to redeem my first coupon at the supermarket. It was a 10 cent coupon for a box of salt, and I thought it meant that I would get the salt for 10 cents, as in “pay 10 cents, and you’re off!” Despite my youthful misunderstanding, coupons are straight forward. But not so with rebates. The truth about rebates is that the stores and manufacturers often make the rebate submission process so complicated, that many consumers don’t complete it correctly, if they complete it at all.

For years, I’ve bought all of my Apple products from MacMall because they offer great “free with rebate” bonuses, and I’m the kind of guy who’s not intimidated by the onerous UPC-clipping, receipt copying and proof-of-purchase proffering that these offers require. And Daddy is prepared to fight any “incomplete submission” rejections. But my favorite rebate programs are from Rite-Aid and Staples. These rebates are completed online and require no documentation beyond entering your receipt information.

You can read more about my rebate tips and adventures on BillyKnowsBest, but I’m curious for a show of comments: How many of you use rebates? And any great or nightmare rebate stories?

Remember a while back when we asked you contribute to a survey over at Noodles and Beef? Well the results are in, and they're even updating them in real time. You can go over and check out the results of the survey and see where you fit in. Though I'm not really sure I consider myself a wolf, some of the findings are interesting. Others are pretty expected. Nonetheless, it's an noble effort of categorizing the gays.

Let us know in the comments below what it says about you and if you agree with the results.

Out of all the things I ever expected a history lesson on, autofellatio was not one of them. But here I sit, slightly fascinated by this article from Slate detailing it's sordid past. Who knew that this simple, feel good act was so closely dissected among psychologists up until the 1970s. What's more, we get this fun Kinsey fact that only 2 or 3 out 1,000 men can perform autofellatio. Which brings us to the question, if you could, would you? Seems like the majority of us would say yes without hesitation, but even I, someone who loves performing fellatio, isn't so quick to say yes. Sure, I'd try it and see what all the fuss is about, but I'm not sure I would make it a regular thing. I guess I'll never know as I'm one of the 997 or so men out of 1,000 that can't.

Let us know in the comments below where you lie on the matter. Do you enjoy watching videos of it on sites like Xtube? And if you're one of the few, the proud, please let us know your experiences with it as well.
