One of the great things about being a gay daddy is having the ability to throw down some knowledge at a moment’s notice and show those younger guys a thing or two about the power of experience. Things like telling a great story about a memorable moment in history, or offering words of relationship wisdom to someone who hasn’t lived long enough to have been around the block a few times. But by far one of our favorite things is teaching the twink set some tricks that are a bit more practical: like how to tie a tie, for instance. It’s a skill every good daddy should know! Brush up on your tying technique with the help of these helpful videos, featuring all kinds of classic knots as well as a few we’ve never seen before. (Bonus: they work just as well on a bedpost as they do around your neck!)

Have any good tips of your own? School us in the comments section!

In the new movie Last Vegas, Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline prove that having a blast in that rollicking, high-rolling town isn’t just a young man’s game. In fact, we enjoyed watching those four silver-screen silver foxes celebrating in Sin City so much that it got our devilish daddy selves itching to book our own trip. But what’s a daddy to do in the 702? Turns out plenty! Here’s just a few daddy-approved points of interest we’re adding to our itinerary.

Leave those overcrowded hotels on the strip behind and feel at home at Blue Moon Resort! This three-floor, all-gay destination boasts modern accommodations and plenty of great amenities, including a lagoon-style pool, multiple sundecks, a private Jacuzzi grotto, complimentary breakfast, free WiFi, and more. No wonder it’s received a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor the last two years running and been voted the best place in Vegas for gay men to hang out. Owner John Hessling also deals out a number of special events throughout the year, including the Las Vegas Gay Sports Festival (January), Big Horn Rodeo (May), Lucky Bear Weekend (September), and their popular weekly Boys and Burgers party (Sundays, April through October).

Sure, the abundance of all-you-can-eat establishments might be one of LV’s biggest attractions, but if you’re a true foodie, step away from the buffet and book a reservation at...

SXSW MISTER PanelPicker Vote

We’re way into gay gamers, cinema-going studs, music-listening muscle boys, and digital-minded dudes, which is why we can’t wait for next year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival, going down next March 7-16, deep in the heart of Austin, Texas—it’s easily the biggest and best music and tech event of its kind!

MISTER was proud to be part of last year’s festivities with a MISTER Meetup at Oilcan Harry's, and we’re hoping to be there again in 2014 with a very special interactive panel event we’ve cooked up featuring MISTER CEO Carl Sandler and a very special diva comedian (think Margaret Cho or Chelsea Handler), who will go head to head on all kinds of funny, sexy, and irreverent topics. Read all about it, here.

Sound like a good time? Give it a thumbs-up on SXSW’s official Panelpicker website! Your vote will tell event organizers that you want MISTER to be part of this incredible week-long festival and help us introduce more great guys (and hopefully more than a few Texas cowboys) to MISTER.

Casting your vote is easy:

1. Click here and sign up for a free SXSW Panelpicker account through September 6.
2. Check your e-mail to confirm your registration.
3. Click on the MISTER Panelpicker page.
4. Click the thumbs-up icon on the left side of the page.

Better yet, saddle up and...

We obviously love a good photo parade, so when we read the recent article by one of our favorite grizzly writers, Mike Albo, on New York Magazine’s The Cut website about all the sexy gay studs on Instagram, we headed over to check it out right quick. Turns out the popular app isn’t just a haven for cute cat pics and food porn photos. It’s actually brimming with hot, hairy men and delicious daddies who aren’t shy about sharing their selfies with the rest of the world. From a cute-as-a-button cub to a stogie-loving stud to one of our favorite fetish brands, here are just a few of the awesome accounts we’re enjoying this week:

We don’t know much about this fuzzy Italian Stallion other than he loves summer, traveling, and cuddly kittens (meow, indeed!), but who cares when you give Instagram as good as he does? From beach excursions in his Speedo to candid moments on the couch, we can’t help but scream, “Ciao, Italia!”

A bit of a non sequitur from our usual posts but this is just too amazing to not mention. As previous mentioned: this mermaid has a boyfriend. Meet Eric, the subject of last night's My Crazy Obsession which aired on TLC. I'll let the trailer tell you the rest:

See guys, if a merman can find a real man, there's hope for us all.

While we're on the subject, what's your crazy obsession?

MR. Jonathan Hopkins is this week’s Real Man We Admire.

With less than a week to go before the Supreme Court begins to hear oral arguments on the legality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Proposition 8, our community is in a fighting mood. Fortunately, we've got real-life soldier Jonathan Hopkins on our side.

The former Army captain turned gay rights advocate has been one of the most vocal leaders in the battle to overturn DOMA's crippling affect on married LGBT people, particularly those serving in our country's Armed Forces. While the Court's decision on DOMA is important for all of us, it's even more important for LGBT service members and their spouses, since they receive benefits that are subject to federal law.

It's a fight that's intensely personal for Hopkins, since it was another piece of anti-gay legislation—the now-defunct "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy—that ended his military career in 2010. Today, he works tirelessly with organizations such as Outserve and Knights Out, which are dedicated to bringing about full LGBT equality to America's military.

For more information about the dangers of DOMA, check out Hopkins' fantastic op-ed piece in Time magazine and Outserve's...

MR. Robbie Rogers is this week’s Real Man We Admire.

We think every man should be brave enough to come out, but we also respect a guy’s decision to do it on his own terms. So this week, we’re giving a shout out to pro soccer player Robbie Rogers for kicking down his closet door. To the surprise of many footie fans, the 25-year-old pro soccer player publicly came out earlier this year, becoming one of the few openly gay players in the sport (or any sport, for that matter).

“Life is so full of amazing things,” Rogers posted on his blog. “I realized I could only truly enjoy my life once I was honest. Honesty is a bitch but makes life so simple and clear. My secret is gone. I am a free man. I can move on and live my life as my creator intended.”

Unfortunately, part of Rogers’ newfound freedom includes him taking some time away from the field to do some self-exploration, but his fellow players and teammates say there’s definitely a place for him, should he decide to return. Pro sports without homophobia? That’s one goal we hope Rogers’ coming out helps make a reality.

Read Rogers' full coming-out post on his official blog, or follow him on Twitter.

Who doesn't appreciate a guy who can handle his balls?

MR. Chris Butler is this week’s Real Man We Admire.

Who says cartoons are strictly for Saturday mornings? If Chris Butler is involved, we want them every day of the week! The handsome British-born animator has had his hand in some of the coolest animated movies around, including “Coraline,” “Corpse Bride,” and, most recently, the Oscar-nominated “ParaNorman,” which is heralded as the first mainstream animated children’s movie to feature an openly gay character.

“Some adults were outraged,” he told GLAAD, “but they were also the kind of adults who just sat through an hour and a half of story explaining why intolerance can be so damaging and cruel. I think the younger audience happily embraces it without question. There's nothing quite so refreshing as seeing a kid accept something wholeheartedly because they don't share the baggage of their parents!”

While the movie didn’t take home the big prize on Oscar night, it’s got another shot at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, where it’s up for Outstanding Film. Win, lose, or draw, we can’t wait to see what he does next.

Mitch, the gay jock from "Paranorman."

MR. Cheyenne Jackson is this week’s Real Man We Admire.

Weather you liked him or not, Seth MacFarlane has said he won’t be performing an encore as the host of the Oscars next year, so we’d like to cast our vote for who we think would make an excellent replacement: Cheyenne Jackson. One look at his resume, and it’s clear the 37-year-old star has everything it takes. Funny? Check (anyone who watched him on “30 Rock” can vouch for that). Able to carry a tune for the inevitable song-and-dance number? Double check (he’s a veteran Broadway star with a debut album dropping this year). Movie star good looks? Clearly, there aren’t enough checks we can award him in that department. One thing’s for sure, staring into those baby blues would certainly make watching the long, drawn-out ceremony a LOT more bearable. So what do you say, Academy? We can pretty much guarantee nothing but four-star reviews.

MR. Don Lemon is this week’s Real Man We Admire.

First the good news: We live in a world where a public figure doesn’t have to hide their sexuality to rise to the top. Case in point: CNN News anchor Don Lemon, whose career hasn’t skipped a beat since he publicly came out in his best-selling memoir, “Transparent.” In fact, the baby-faced 46-year-old journalist is more in-demand than ever, hosting the weekend edition of the network’s popular primetime show “Newsroom” and speaking to sold-out crowds around the country.

“I abhor hypocrisy,” Lemon told the New York Times. “I think if you’re going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth, of trying to shed light in dark places, then you’ve got to be honest. You’ve got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else."

Now the bad news: Sorry, guys, this newsman’s off the market. His longtime boyfriend, news producer Ben Tinker, got the exclusive scoop.

MR. Lemon getting reactions to President Obama's 2012 inauguration speech mentioning the Stonewall riots:

Don talking about coming out and his book with Dr. Drew:
